Fixed Term Saturday Assistant until February 2021


6 core hours per week on a Saturday (probably from 8:00 am — 2:30 pm including break), with the possibility of additional hours in the week to cover staff holidays and additional workloads.

Job Description

The Saturday assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of Beaulieu Community Centre.

Main Duties

  • To be a key-holder for the centre, opening up and closing when needed. It is a requirement that the person is over 18 years old for this responsibility.
  • To be responsible for health and safety in the building including the general safety of centre users during their shift, and especially when there are children’s parties taking place.
  • To assist in taking party bookings – by phone, email or in person and entering them correctly onto the booking system. Experience of using Hallmaster is an advantage.
  • To handle safety deposit money correctly and securely when required.
  • To ensure that services provided by hirers are compatible with the terms of their hire.
  • To check the cleanliness of rooms between parties and sweep if needed. To report any cleaning needs to the Caretaker or Centre Manager.
  • To prepare clear handover notes for the next person on shift to pick up, as well as keeping in clear communication to the Centre Manager.
  • To maintain excellent customer service and promote the best image of the centre at all times.

Other Related Duties

The post holder will also undertake such additional duties as necessary in relation to the work of the community centre for example, taking on additional responsibilities to cover other members of staff when needed. Therefore, special consideration will be given to applicants with the flexibility to work additional hours in the week when needed. Training at the beginning of the job will need to take place during the week.
