About Us

Chelmsford Garden Community Trust (CGCT), formally Beaulieu Community Trust, exists primarily to further or benefit the residents of Chelmsford Garden Community, and where appropriate surrounding areas, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by working with local stakeholders in a common effort to develop and maintain an all-inclusive, healthy and vibrant community.

Beaulieu Community Centre

A key role for the Trust is management of the Beaulieu Community Centre. The Trust is a tenant of Chelmsford Garden Community Council, the organisation that now holds the main 125 year building lease which was originally signed in 2018.

The community centre acts as a keystone resource to facilitate community development. It is a valuable venue for many diverse groups that deliver a range of user-led activities creating opportunities for social, leisure and personal development.

The Trust seeks to continually maximise the public benefit of the community centre by ensuring there is ongoing improvement and diversity of the facilities and services offered.

Bio
I am thrilled to be part of this amazing community and have high ambitions for running more community driven events — not just for toddlers, but for our teens, moms, dads, and grandparents. I have worked in various roles thorughout my career, but one that brings me joy is working alongside people. I value the importance of connection within society, especially with the pace of life at present and all the struggles so many are facing. I come from sunny South Africa and have enjoyed living in Chelmsford for the past 6 years. MY work experience ranges from Office Manager to Personal Assistant to Events Coordinator. What drives me the most, especially over the last few years, is that "there's always a way!" I believe this to be true. I hope to assist in not only serving this wonderful new community but to continue being a part of its unity.

Centre Administrator

Bio
I'm Suzy, one of the Centre Administrators. I live locally with my family - and maybe one day a dog too! It's been wonderful getting to know the local community. Seeing the passion and determination of our hirers at the hall is wonderful. From the services they offer, the commitment they bring and the community they support. Plus families celebrating and other community outreach projects. It's wonderful to see and be a part of.

Bio
I am a friendly, hard working person who enjoys family time, socialising, running and reading. I have two teenage boys who keep me very happy (mostly!) busy and driven. Previously to working at the Beaulieu Community Centre, I worked in education for 9 years. I was mainly in a Primary school, with the last 2 years being at a pre-school. I love being around children and mostly helping those more vulnerable to achieve their best. This experience has taught me many personal values as well as developing professional skills. I enjoy working as part of a team, being organised and building something that helps the community where everyone feels welcome and safe to thrive. I am excited about the future for the Centre, developing relationships with Regular Hirers, meeting new people and being part of new initiatives and projects.
Oreo Andrews

Centre Support

Bio
Oreo really struggles with being left on his own, so occasionally he joins his mom at the Centre. Oreo is also from South Africa and was rescued off the streets at five weeks old. He loves children and long walks but has lots of sensory woes. He is always up for a pat and loves meeting all the people here at the Centre.

I have been a resident in Chelmsford Garden Community since late 2017. Meeting new neighbors, it really hit me that the only way we were going to become a "community" is by doing it together. In 2018, other residents and I created the Channels Residents Community Group which still represents the local Channels Community and works with other organisations and residents to champion issues and have good times and fun together. I am passionate about ensuring our local Community is available to all residents. I look forward to supporting and giving opportunities for learning, fun, and coming together for everyone that lives in the Chelmsford Garden Community. I am often out and about, so if you see me out for some fresh air, at the Community Centre, or at a Council meeting feel free to say hello or wave!
